Lotus Mental Health Counseling

Julie Hewitt

Welcome

The lotus flower has long symbolized strength, resilience and new beginnings. The flower grows through the murkiest of waters with clean petals and re-blooms each morning.

Everything we need in this life is already within us.

We are our greatest asset but it can be difficult to believe in ourselves and access what we need. The journey of counseling is not only to heal, but to explore ourselves and what we want for this life. Empowerment and authenticity are the focus in my therapy room; believing in yourself and your abilities while not sacrificing who you are and what you want. I use a person-centered approach, with a direct delivery, meeting the individual where they are and walking alongside them.

I believe in a holistic approach and recognize the importance of including all parts of self in the therapeutic process.

My name is Julie Hewitt

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and graduated from Drake University with a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. Prior to my graduate schooling, I had over 12 years of experience working in human services with a wide array of populations.

I am intentional, playful and can usually be found laughing. My favorite color is glitter (which I think says a lot about me) and I am a cat person. I love Beetlejuice, The Golden Girls and listening to John Mayer. I enjoy reading, spending time near water, playing board games and spending time with the people I love.

What to Expect

Beginning the journey of therapy can be intimidating. My goal is to create a genuine, warm and inviting atmosphere where you can be yourself and ask any questions you may have. Each person’s journey is unique to them; modalities used, appointment length and appointment frequency will be discussed and decided on together.

Insurance Benefits

At Lotus Mental Health Counseling, your mental well-being is my top priority, and part of that commitment is ensuring a seamless and stress-free experience for clients. Verifying your insurance plan benefits prior to scheduling an appointment is an important step to beginning the therapy process. This essential step allows you to have a clear understanding of your coverage, copayments, and potential out-of-pocket fees, making your therapeutic journey more transparent and financially manageable. Each client has a right to a Good Faith Estimate under the No Surprises Act.

Please remember that being responsible for your bill and ensuring your copay is paid at the time of service not only helps maintain the integrity of our therapeutic relationship but also supports the sustainability of the practice of Lotus Mental Health Counseling. Your commitment to this partnership is greatly appreciated.

Not sure what to ask your insurance regarding mental health therapy benefits?

The following information should be gathered:

  • If your insurance plan covers therapy sessions with me.
  •  If you have a co-payment or co-insurance, and what that amount/percentage is.
  • If your insurance plan has a deductible that includes mental health appointments. (A deductible is the amount you will pay out of pocket before insurance pays all or part of your appointment costs)
  •  If your plan will cover telehealth sessions.
